Build a Solar Carport Instructions

Simaeng has constructed a 4-6 berth carport that emits energy and generates 11.52 kW/p of electricity each day from a PV solar system on its corrugated iron roof while also offering shade and weather protection.
Simaeng’s original ideas and calculations were used by an architect to create the gigantic structure, which needed to be able to support the weight of the solar system while having enough roof space (72m2) to hold all of the solar panels in the PV array. To make the most of the solar system, location and roof pitch were crucial considerations in the design of this construction.
Simaeng has developed a Solution system that supplies the office building with an amazing 70kWh of electricity EVERY DAY using a 12kW SMA inverter and 36 x 320W (11 520kW total) polycrystalline panels from SolaWarhouse.
If you’ve looked into solar energy in the past, you could have been told that the size system your household needs would not fit on your present roof. However, you might already have a structure in place that is wasting precious space when it might be earning you money.
Building a solar car parking bay can be a great way to not only provide shade and protection for your car, but also generate renewable energy for your home or business. Here are some steps to follow:
- Determine the size and location: Decide on the size of your solar carport and the location on your property where it will be built. Consider factors such as the orientation of the carport with respect to the sun, access to electrical infrastructure, and any building codes or permits that may be required.
- Design the structure: Create a design for the structure that incorporates the solar panels and supports the weight of the panels, as well as any snow or wind loads in your area. You may want to work with a professional engineer to ensure the structure is safe and meets local building codes.
- Obtain necessary permits: Obtain any necessary permits from your local building department or other governing authorities. This may include permits for construction, electrical work, or connecting to the grid.
- Purchase materials: Purchase the necessary materials, including the solar panels, support structure, wiring, and any other equipment needed to connect the solar panels to your home’s electrical system or the grid.
- Build the carport: Build the structure according to your design, making sure to follow all safety guidelines and building codes. Depending on your level of experience, you may want to work with a professional contractor or construction team.
- Install solar panels: Install the solar panels on the structure, connecting them to the wiring and inverter as needed. You may need to hire a professional electrician to ensure that the electrical work is done safely and according to code.
- Connect to the grid: If you plan to connect your solar carport to the grid, you will need to have it inspected by your utility company and obtain permission to interconnect. You may also need to install a separate meter to track the energy your solar carport generates.
With these steps, you should be able to successfully build a solar carport that provides both shade and renewable energy for your home or business.
